Order Payments

Orders recorded through Mealsite have an associated payment transaction. Note that it is not possible at this time for a customer to complete checkout without full payment applied to the order.

Frontend Order Payments

The order form on the frontend offers these payment methods on checkout:

  1. Credit Cards
    Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express with live transaction processing through a configured payment gateway.
  2. Account Credits Customer Account Required
    Check and Cash payments applied by an administrator. Also order adjustments that were not refunded.

The order will not complete checkout without the invoice balance being paid in full ($0.00). Tip: Any customer account may have account credits posted by credit card, check, or cash according to your own advance payment policy. By loading account credit in advance, someone without a credit card may still submit their own orders online.

Backend Order Payments

The order form on the backend offers these payment methods:

  1. Credit Cards
    Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express with live transaction processing through a configured payment gateway.
  2. Account Credits Customer Account Required
    Check and Cash payments applied by an administrator. Also order adjustments that were not refunded.
  3. Checks
    Received offline and posted by an administrator.
  4. Cash
    Received offline and posted by an administrator.
  5. Write-Off
    This method says FREE (No Payment) and is useful for recording a meal that will not be paid for according to your own policy (comping a meal usually).
    Note: This is not the same as submitting an order for a student eligible for the FREE price level. Orders recorded as FREE (No Payment) will still show a positive invoice balance and will not be included in the FREE price level on the Sales Report. Students eligible for free lunch must be setup in advance of the order with the FREE price level and will usually result in an invoice total of $0.00.
